Colbert Takes on Amazon

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/05/colbert-amazon-hachette_n_5453714.html

Steven Colbert and Sherman Alexie tell us why we can’t shop at Amazon anymore. Sherman Alexie is probably one of my top five favorite authors. His sentiments have a lot of influence of me, so I might have to take this Amazon boycott seriously.

Amazon may be thrifty and useful, but they have been systematically killing local and franchise bookstores simply by losing money for a while. It’s nice when people like Colbert take a stand for the Authors who will suffer now and perhaps in the future; since no one knows who will be next with Amazon.

I hate to hate Amazon for the reasons you say. Thrifty and, for me, immensely useful. But when a single business can have so much control over the careers of so many people…that can’t be okay. Just got back from watching Captain America (FINALLY) and I’m all like, Amazon is Hyrdra!!!
