Jupiter Ascending Trailer

Jupiter Ascending

It’s the Wachowski’s

It’s Channing Tatum.

Is there any chance that I won’t love this movie?

Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along – her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

If we have Matrix (and not the sequels) quality and V for Vendetta type stuff going on in this movie, then I think I’m going to really like it.

Yes, there are obvious old sci-fi tropes from the get-go. The Damsel in Distress, the Hero, the Quest, the Prophesy. But hey, did you see the Matrix? Cliches and tropes up the yin-yang, but I loved it anyway.  In this movie there is the destined ruler who does not know it yet and there are a whole bunch of people out to protect her and ensure her safety because of a prophesy and blah blah blah. Yeah, that’s nothing new (and in fact has been receiving a lot of hate by those who argue vehemently against any more media with the royal/chosen one who doesn’t know it but will be redeemed theme), but for me it’s a fairly beloved cliche and I’d love to see a fresh spin on it.

I’m also trying to figure out how I feel about Channing Tatum as a blonde…yeah, I don’t think its going to be a problem.
