Genius Loci Anthology: Name Dropping

I haven’t posted much lately because I’ve been busy writing, networking, and working on a book deal with a small independent publisher. More on that later. This post is somewhat about a wonderful new anthology that will be on its way to market very soon. It’s also about being in the right place at the right time, which never usually happens to me. I feel like I’ve won the rubbing elbows, networking connections lottery, and I’m just so daggone proud of my new writing buddies that I have to brag on them.

One of the best things to happen this summer was that I took a online writing class with Cat Rambo. I was a huge fan of hers before, but after working with her in her class, I’m totally star struck. For those not in the speculative fiction short story circles, Cat Rambo was also recently elected Vice President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. I expect good things to happen with her at the Vice-helm.

But even better than schmoozing with Cat was that the fact that I gained 6 AWESOME and ASTOUNDING new writer buddies. My first ever real writing group, with people that I talk to on a regular basis about..writing! And other awesome stuff, but mostly writing and the industry.

Since the forming of our group just a few months ago, I have gone on to get an indy book deal, one of our members has published enough pro work to join SFWA, and two more members, namely Sunil Patel and Z.M. Quynh have just learned that they are going to have their FIRST pro publications ever in the Genius Loci anthology, edited by Jaym Gates.

Know who else is appearing in this anthology? How ’bout our own teacher, Cat Rambo, multi-award winning writer, Ken Liu, and multi-award winner Seanan McGuire. Some other favorite authors of mine making an appearance in this anthology are Anatoly Belilovsky and Damien Angelica Walters.

How’s that for some name dropping?

Keep your eye out for this anthology. It’s a BIG DEAL!!!!
