Heroines That Need Therapy

Somebody needs to send some of the heroines in the books I’ve been reading to a therapist. I don’t mean the ones that have survived some traumas that would truly F-up anyone. ( I love you Lacey Flint! I’m reading Sharon Bolton’s A Dark and Twisted Tide right now and Lacey is the main character. Read the series. It’s worth it. She used to write under SJ Bolton but there are too many SJs out there right now: You should also read SJ Watson.)

I’m bitching about the book I’m listening to. Well known and popular author; well-written and entertaining but the main character is the typical chick lit divorced thirty something who only expresses her independence and toughness at the guy who loves her. I just read a portion where she burst into tears at dinner with her boyfriend because of what the bad guy was doing to her and then ripped into the boyfriend because he solved the problem (and also revealed he wasn’t as broke as she’d assumed). So she yells and breaks up with him and calls all men controlling blah blah and only seems to stand up to him but no one else. I’m sorry but if you have a crying jag and someone goes out of his way to help you after it, you don’t act like a crazy biatch. Even if you have to explain your concerns and maybe even say no, you don’t have to act like a crazy biatch.

No crazy biatch crying

Guy has done nothing but try to help you (time and time again in different ways) so you don’t have to act like a crazy biatch. Eventually, they’ll get back together and all will be well but I may have to start a new crazy biatch book list to make myself feel better.

I’ll also plan on listening to Skin Game, the new Harry Dresden by Jim Butcher next.

At least if there’s a crazy biatch in that, she’s probably 400 years old and can fly and is an evil fairy or something.

“I am somewhat proud of this," Mab's cold voice said. "To be sure, the White Christ never suffered so long or so terribly as did this traitor. Three days on a tree. Hardly enough time for a prelude. When it came to visiting agony, the Romans were hobbyists.”
